Gannon 81, Bloomsburg 55

Due to an illness in my family, I was unable to attend Gannon's convincing 81-55 victory over Bloomsburg tonight, so your comments will have to carry the day. It is nice to be halfway to 20 wins on January 4th.

  1. Tonight's big game will be the 1st one with the Lady Knights going against the Bloomies.

  3. PSAC scores of interest:
    * IUP lost at Stroud, 57-55. So Stroud stands alone at the top of the East standings at 5-1, their only loss at home to Lock Haven. That has to hurt. IUP is now 4-2 in the West.
    * Speaking of Lock Haven, they moved to 3-3 in the West with a 85-77 home win over Cheyney.
    * Slippery Rock leads the West at 5-1 after their 69-64 win at Millersville Friday. The Rock play at Shippensburg tonight. SRU's only PSAC lost came at West Chester.

  4. Nice win by the Knights. In the first half, GU looked like a team that hadn't played in over two weeks ... very sloppy and rusty with a ton of turnovers.

It was just a matter of time before the Knights took better care of the ball and broke it open -- the game was decided with 10 minutes to go. Good to see some offense.

The only concern was the fact that I hope that playing the starters a ton on the second half doesn't become a trend ... Until Reilly emptied the bench with 1:26 to go, the starters played all but 4-6 minutes of the second half. Torrence scored 12 points in the first half, but barely played in the second half. They won't tire out against a team like Bloomsburg, but fatigue would play a bigger part against more quality PSAC sides.

  5. Great win, but that was some of the strangest substitutions I have seen. CJ as a point? I wish Coach would play some of more of the bench when we are up that much.
Great game to the ladies, I enjoy watching them play some great fundamental basketball.
    Keep it going Knights!

    1. The women deserve a lot more attention than they get. They aren't playing nearly up to their abilities and won a game Friday night that I easily could have imagined they would have lost a year earlier - I think Thies is the difference in the Shaw game a year ago and all of those EUP games. 1/16 has me pretty damn stoked.
