Big Basketball Day

We Gannon Hoops fans don't have many big basketball days in July, but my 6-year-old daughter Evelyn had a big basketball day today. She spent the morning at Penn State Behrend's Little Dribblers basketball camp, bouncing a ball about half her size. She even got to shoot a little bit with Gannon's Adam Blazek who's working the camp as a counselor. In the evening, Evelyn watched some of Team USA's exhibition win vs. Brazil, a warm-up for the summer Olympics. She even asked if she could stay up late to watch the second half.

When Evelyn was getting ready for bed, I still had the game on in the next room. She walked in and asked this question (which I hope you'll find entertaining): "Who do you think is better, Joe Lindsey or Steve Piotrowicz?" I'm not exactly sure where that came from, but it had this Gannon fan grinning from ear-to-ear. Hope you're enjoying your summer!

  1. You never know what kids are going to say, but one can see why that would delight you, Jim. Maybe her interest has something to do with liking the number 3, since both players mentioned wore that number?

  2. Congratulations to Tanner and Steve for the second time, being named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court. Tanner 3.82 in Mechanical Engineering and Steve with a 3.37 in Sport Management. Two athletes who get the student part in student-athlete as well as others who are good students, e.g. Adam. Gannon University should be proud since GU was one of two PSAC schools having athletes honored.

  3. Well 3 of our team members get the student part..R. Wilson probably wasn't eligible for the Honors Court because he didn't play and I don't know what his GPA was but he was on the list for dean's list this year in the previous article on the men's bball website. Congrats to all who succeed in the classroom.
