Is Mercyhurst for real?

That question could be answered this weekend when the Lakers (9-0) travel to Shippensburg (7-2) and Cheyney (6-1) for what should be their first real tests of the season. The 13 combined wins for those two teams match the total wins of Mercyhurst's 8 opponents played to date. Here's the rundown:
  • St. Augustine's (3-4)
  • UNC Pembroke (3-6)
  • Shepherd (2-7)
  • Salem International - twice (0-9)
  • Ohio Valley (3-5)
  • Columbia Union (1-10)
  • Urbana (1-14)
  • Penn State-Greater Allegheny's record wasn't online (there's a shocker) but they were 3-23 last year, so I'm guessing they haven't started this season with a flourish.
So take away PSU-GA (who is terrible) and the combined record of Mercyhurst's opponents is 13-55, a robust .191 winning percentage. If the Lakers go 2-0, they are a real threat in the PSAC West. A split would be OK. A winless trip would make everyone doubters about their legitimacy.
